Whenever I see a caddy that is pink, I often think of the song made famous by Natalie Cole in 1988 called Pink Cadillac. This song was originally written by The Boss, otherwise known as Bruce Springsteen. Cole’s version of the song is an upbeat tune full of rhythm and spunk. The song lets everyone know that women really do care what a man drives. So whether you are driving a caddy or not, play Cole’s song and think of all the women out there who happen to love guys not for their money or their looks, but for their cars

It was the big hit maker for Prince in 1983. His previous attempts at rising to the top of the charts were not so successful. However, when Little Red Corvette started getting airplay, Prince knew he had finally made it as an artist. The song is quite racy and it has all sorts of veiled sexual innuendos. However, they are not blatant, and many people don’t even pick up on the real story behind the lyrics. Prince was clever in that he kept the heavy sexual references under wraps, and ended up with an enjoyable song that was played on the air and on music television.

If you listen closely to the lyrics of Tracy Chapman’s big hit from the summer of 1988, you will discover that the song, Fast Car, essentially makes a big circle. The song starts out with a girl who wants to escape her life of drudgery, taking care of her alcoholic father. She thinks she has found it in a guy with a fast car who can take her away from it all. Before the end of the song she realizes that she really has not improved her situation. She is with another man who is an emotional and financial drain on her.
