Stunt Driving with Sam Hubinette
Movie stunt driving is more than just a fancy sequence in an action movie.
Often times when we watch an action movie, we simply take in the action sequences for face value and we might comment on them after the film. But rarely do people ever wonder about the people performing and choreographing the action scenes. But as you discover more about the action sequences, you will find that movie stunt driving is more than just how to handle a car on the screen, but these stunt drivers are pretty incredible people. Take Sam Hubinette for example. If you throw that name out in casual conversation, no one would have the first clue as to who you are talking about. But start mentioning some of his work and there will be a little more recognition for his name.
Sam Hubinette has always wanted to get into movie stunt driving, even from a young age. At age eight, his father took him to an ice track where he learned how to drive sideways. He’s been hooked on this since then. When he is not working on Hollywood films, he is actually a Formula-D driver and drives on Mopar/BF Goodrich team. He’s pretty successful with the Formula-D racing as well, he’s won at least one championship in 2004.
Though you might not know Sam Hubinette by name, you will definitely remember some of his movie stunt driving for some bigger name Hollywood films. His most recent work was in the feature film called Crank: High Voltage in 2009, starring Jason Statham. Sam Hubinette did some of the movie stunt driving, but he also starred at the ambulance driver in parts of the movie. He was also in Mission Zero with Uma Thurman as the Cop Car Driver in 2007. His most famous stunt work was for the Fast and Furious three and four installments. These movies were primarily driving work and he was even nominated for best stunt with a car for it.
But remember, Sam Hubinette isn’t just about the movie stunt driving. He has a lot of other talents such as being able to speak Swedish, he plays the drums, and also enjoys rollerblading, soccer, swimming, cycling and tennis.
