The Bond Aston Martin that almost wasn’t…

When the producers of the James Bond movie, Goldfinger came calling on Aston Martin with a request to donate 3 new cars to the movie production, the brass at Aston Martin almost handed them their walking papers.

Aston Martin was very interested in “SELLING” the producers a few cars but was not to keen on the idea of “GIVING” away their new model.

Fortunately, for car enthusiasts everywhere and Aston Martin, they reconsidered and agree to give the company two cars.  One to be used for regular driving and one to be “redesigned” with the famous bond gadgets.

History was made…  The Aston Martin became the hottest car around, sales doubled and Aston Martin was very very happy.

Viewers of the Bond films were also delighted with the change from the stodgy dodgy Bentley to the sleek and sexy Aston Martin.

The gadgets were also a major hit.  Of course, the famous ejector seat was the talk of the movie.

Now more than 40 years later, that first Aston Martin is still the quintessential Bond car.
