Young James Bond's First Car
Young James Bond’s First Car
Long before the first Bond movie was made and long before James Bond stepped into his first Q Branch modified car, there was that first car. Not the first one in a movie, but the first car as portrayed in the James Bond Books, or to be more specific the Young James Bond books.
So what was James Bond first car?
It was the Bamford & Martin 1.5 litre Side Valve Short Chassis Tourer that young James inherited from his uncle Max at the tender age of thirteen. Of course the underage Bond regularly drove the vehicle as we learn in the first of the Young Bond novels, Silverfin.
The car even traveled to Eton with Bond and made an appearance in the third Young Bond novel, Double or Die where it was destroyed in December 1933. He later replaced it with a Bentley Mark IV.
